CANCELLED / GIURI Annual Event - Beyond the Horizon

The GIURI annual event  has been cancelled due to the sudden and untimely death of Fabio Donato, scientific counsellor at the Italian Permanent Representation to the EU, who died yesterday afternoon in Brussels. 

The GIURI, as well as the entire Brussels-based Italian research and innovation community, is deeply shocked and saddened by unexpected and premature death of Fabio, and sends its condolences to his family and friends.

How is the EU investing in research and innovation in the current 2021-27 programming cycle? Is the Framework Programme still the main instrument or is it becoming part of a broader public investment strategy? How are the new instruments launched or renewed in Horizon Europe (missions, partnerships, EIC) performing? Are the synergies between the Horizon  programme and cohesion policy working? What lessons and perspectives can we draw from the analysis of the Italian participation in Horizon Europe? 

This year's GIURI Annual Event will try to answer these and other questions, bringing together policy-makers, experts, researchers, innovators, and R&I stakeholders, at a time when the European Commission is evaluating Horizon Europe, defining R&I priorities for its last three years from 2025 and 2027, and starting its preliminary reflections on the future of the Framework Programme.
