In July 2025, the European Commission presented its proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) post-2027, including the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10) 2028–2034, the successor to Horizon Europe, with a proposed budget of €175 billion. The programme is designed to work in close synergy with the proposed European Competitiveness Fund (ECF), aiming to strengthen the Union’s technological leadership and global competitiveness. This coordinated approach seeks to support the full cycle of investment – from research and development to market uptake.
